Ducati previously confirmed a world premiere at the 73rd Worldwide Motorcycle Exhibition 2015 (EICMA) in Italy, starting on 16 November. Ahead of the show, Ducati released a teaser video giving a glimpse of the motorcycles to be shown at the event.
The video shows the tank and handlebar of the new Scrambler in new Orange colour, which is not part of the existing Scrambler. There were spy shots of the Scrambler 400cc floating around the Internet recently. Read everything together and it seems the Ducati Scrambler 400cc in orange will be the star attraction of the show.
It was reported that the new Scrambler would feature a design similar to its elder sibling and the engine would be the 400cc L-twin Testatreta, a downsized unit of the 800cc Scrambler. The smaller Ducati Scrambler will get its chassis from the current one and will be lighter.
Similar to the recently-unveiled TVS-BMW G 310 R, with the Scrambler 400cc, Ducati will be eyeing increased sales in emerging markets like India. The estimated price for the 400cc Scrambler in India is in the range of Rs 4-5 lakh. At that price point, the new Scrambler will have neck-and-neck competition from the entry-level Harley-Davidson range, though both motorcycles are in different segments.
Additionally, Ducati will showcase an array of new motorcycles at the EICMA, topped by the recently-unveiled 160hp, Monster 1200 R — the most powerful Ducati naked motorcycle till date.
