General Motors India is all set to revamp its Chevrolet line-up and the company already confirmed that it would be launching Beat Activ crossover, Essentia compact sedan and the 2017 Beat in the coming months. With the new models, the American manufacturer will also update the Trailblazer SUV and the Cruze sedan in India, a company statement said.
The first to enter the market is expected to be the Trailblazer. It was reported that General Motors already imported the new Trailblazer to India for R&D purpose and the launch can be expected during the festive season. The new Trailblazer was unveiled at the 37th Bangkok International Motor Show in March. The big SUV from Chevrolet has received an all-new face, which is more angular and sporty in design. It features reworked bumper, bonnet and headlamps that lends more butch look. The signature split grille with bowtie emblem is now more upright. There are some chrome touches on the grille as well.
The new Trailblazer features an updated dashboard and instrument cluster. An 8-inch MyLink infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay has been newly added. At the heart, the SUV is likely to remain untouched and is expected to continue with the 2.8-litre Duramax four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.
Chevrolet India updated the Cruze with a nip and tuck earlier this year. Hence, the launch of all new Cruze can be expected around mid-2017. The new Cruze is based on an all-new platform that has helped the car to drop weight over 100 kgs. This results in better acceleration and improved fuel efficiency. GM claims the new Cruze is roomier thanks to the increased length and wheelbase. On the design front, the new Cruze adopts more aerodynamic design and it is contemporary. In India, the carmaker may retain the 2.0-litre diesel engine, which will be offered in both manual and an automatic gearbox.
