BMW India is gearing up for biennial automobile show Auto Expo 2016, which will begin from 3 February, with two launches. The German luxury car maker will launch updated 7 Series flagship sedan and the new X1 SUV on the first day of the show. The event will be held in the presence of brand ambassador and legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and BMW Group India President Philipp von Sahr, a company statement said.
The sixth generation of new BMW 7 Series has been improvised in the areas of design, powertrains, chassis, operating systems, intelligent connectivity and interior ambience. The new BMW 7 Series models are lighter by up to 130 k. The car is available in various powertrain combinations in the international market. The 730Ld diesel trim powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine with 261bhp and 620Nm is expected to be the popular model in India.
The second-generation BMW X1 rides on BMW's front-wheel drive UKL platform and is lighter by 135 kg compared to its predecessor. The entry level SUV of the BMW now comes with 90mm extra wheelbase, boot space grown by 85 liters and rear knee room has improved by 37mm. The SUV features LED headlights and grille as well as the wraparound LED tail lamps. A choice of one petrol engine and three diesel units are expected on offer.
Along with the new 7 Series and X1, BMW will also showcase recently-launched new BMW 3 Series. Other models on display will be 3 Series Gran Turismo, 5 Series, X3, X5, M4 Coupe, M6 Gran Coupe, X6 M, Z4 and the i8. The motorcycle division BMW Motorrad will also be on display with BMW S 1000 XR , BMW S 1000 RR, BMW R nine T and BMW R 1200 GS.
