If you are as hardcore gamer and know all your developers and publishers like the back of your hand, you shouldn't be any stranger to EA's success in the industry, across a host of genres. There have been successful franchises such as FIFA and Battlefield from the dev over the years, and it seems like a new Battlefield has just been confirmed.
Recently, during an investor's meet, EA's CFO Blake Jorgensen was pitched questions about the developer's future plans, as far as game releases in the next couple of years are concerned. Jorgensen stated that while this year's main point of focus will be the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront, next year will surely see the release of a new (still unnamed, though) Battlefield title.
"What we've said is that our intention over the next couple of years is to have a first-person shooter as one of the core titles. This year, obviously, it's Star Wars Battlefront. Next year, it's another Battlefield title," Jorgensen replied, when asked about the company's future by a certain investor.
Previous to this, as far as the Battlefield series is concerned, the company released Battlefield Hardline, which met with mostly positive reviews due to the fact that it offered a fresh take on the entire war scene, shifting focus to the cops and robbers paradigm.
Do you think the next Battlefield will build more upon this urban crime scene, or will it revert back to the usual war scenario? Let us know in the comments section below.
