Bajaj's is planning to launch the new Avenger this year, according to emerging reports.
Bajaj Auto managing director and CEO Rajiv Bajaj told MyDigital FC that the Pune-based bike-maker will roll out the new Avenger model in the third quarter of this financial year.
The company has remained muted on the details about the launch and key features of new model. But if rumours that have been floating on the web are anything to go by, the upgraded Avenger could house a 200cc engine of Pulsar 200NS. This, if proven, will certainly generate more power than the current engine of the cruiser motorcycle.
Avenger cruiser, which is currently in the market, is powered by 220cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine sourced from Pulsar 220 capable of churning out 19bhp at 8,400rpm and 17.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The 200NS engine has the capacity to generate 23bhp at 9,500rpm and 18.3Nm of torque at 8,000rpm.
Also it is rumoured that the new Avenger could also get a six-speed gearbox, instead of the current five-speed unit.
