If the emerging reports on the web are true, Pune-based bike maker Bajaj's long-rumoured new Avenger 200 will be launched in India in December.
Motor enthusiasts at MotorOctane claim that Bajaj is preparing to launch its new Avenger 200 in India after the festive season. However, the report did not specify the launch details of the model. Earlier reports had said that Bajaj confirmed the launch of new Avenger in India in the third quarter of this financial year.
New Bajaj Avenger, the updated model of current Avenger in the market is expected to get the 200cc engine of Pulsar 200NS, which will deliver more power than the current engine. The 200NS engine has the capacity to generate 23bhp at 9,500rpm and 18.3Nm of torque at 8,000rpm.
Currently, the cruiser Avenger draws power from a 220cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine sourced from Pulsar 220 capable of churning out 19bhp at 8,400rpm and 17.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. Rumours are also doing the rounds that the transmission in the new Avenger would be taken care of by a six-speed gearbox, instead of the current five-speed unit.
As for styling, the new Avenger is likely to come with the same body kit of the current model.
