Taiwanese consumer electronics giant Asus has reportedly confirmed that the popular Zenfone series devices will get Android 5.0 Lollipop update in few days' time.
In October 2014, the company had actually announced the roll-out of the new Google mobile OS to its first generation smartphones Zenfone 4, 5 and 6 in April 2015, but it never materialized, probably due to bugs in the source-code. The problem is similar to the one faced by Sony, which missed numerous deadlines before finally deploying the update to its devices last month.
Now, Asus has announced a new Android 5.0 Lollipop update release schedule for the Zenfone series devices.
"We've sent the new version for final verification and we expect to release the upgrade soon. We would request the kind consideration and understanding of our customers with regards to any inconvenience caused by this schedule changing," said the company on the official consumer forum.
Zenfone 5 LTE (A500KL) will be the first Asus device to get the new Android software in few days time. Whereas the Zenfone 4(A400CG/A450CG), Zenfone 5(A500CG), and the Zenfone 6(A600CG) are slated to get the v5.0 Lollipop in mid-May. Zenfone S (PF500KL) is in line to get the software in June.
The new Android OS update will bring in the new design language- "Material Design", with interactive user interface, lots of animation graphics, lock-screen notification options and the replacement of Dalvik with ART as its default runtime will bring improvement in performance-and-battery-life enhancement and many more features.
In a related development, Asus has released a firmware (V2.15.40.10_20150425) to the flagship Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) via OTA (Over-The-Air). It is said to bring stability in system, improvements in memory usage and camera quality and more.

How to Install firmware update on smartphones via OTA [Over-The-Air]:
If Asus Zenfone 2 series owners are getting the update notifications, then select - "Yes, Download" option >> then, after downloading, select >> "Install now." The phone will restart automatically and the OS will be updated to the new version.
