Gear up, The Crown fans! Netflix will serve the season 2 very soon on your plate. The Crown season 2, which spans approximately 10 years until 1964 of the British monarchy, will focus more on the life of Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Recently during a panel hosted by the 'Late Late Show' host James Corden, The Crown cast Claire Foy and Matt Smith revealed a few spoilers about the forthcoming series of the Netflix show.
Both Foy and Smith spoke highly of the show's principal creative team, Peter Morgan, Stephen Daldry, and Andy Harries. Matt Smith explained that how the idea of playing a royal was intimidating at the beginning — "I loved the acerbic brilliance of the script. The show peels back the mask of what we think the royals are."
According to Variety, Smith, who plays Prince Phillip on screen, spilled the beans about the season 2. Smith said, "In Season 2, it gets a bit hairier," while Foy also agreed on the fact saying "In Season 2, there are scenes I would never want to relive."
Smith never forgot to mention that Stephen Daldry gave them a few "big books" containing lots of research about the British royal family. He confessed, "I learned so much about my own country that I didn't know which made me feel a bit stupid."

The filming for the season 2 has already been wrapped apart from a couple of reshoots which indicates that Foy and Smith's portrayal as the Queen and the King is over. As per several reports, the entire cast of the show will be replaced with older actors from season 3.
The air date of The Crown season 2 has not been confirmed by Netflix yet, but the show is expected to air in late 2017.
