Social networking sites have become an integral part of people's lives nowadays and it played an important role in tracing and rescuing people post the recent Nepal earthquake, which killed more than 4,000 people.
Many took to Twitter and Facebook to trace and rescue the victims of the natural disaster.
A new Twitter handle, @MEAcontrolroom, was opened to receive assistance regarding Indians stranded in Nepal.
Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, who has been quite active on Twitter, helped in tracing many missing people in Nepal. (For details, check the above slide show)
Almost all news websites actively updated the situation in Nepal via their Twitter handles.

Even social media giant Facebook activated the Safety Check option for the people in Nepal and search engine giant came up with the Google Person Finder.
