The Kishore Thirumala-directed romance drama was expected to continue its dream run on weekdays and surpass the $500,000 mark in the country by the end of the first week. But the movie witnessed steep decline with its weekdays' business reaching $64,171. "Nenu Sailaja" collected $476,472 at the US box office in its first week.
The day-wise breakup of the US collection of "Nenu Sailaja" is $21,587 on its Thursday premiere, $147,791 on Friday, $159,448 on Saturday, $83,475 on Sunday, $16,047 on Monday, $20,097 on Tuesday, and $28,027 on Wednesday and Thursday.
Despite big-ticket releases in its second week, "Nenu Sailaja" managed to hold a decent number of cinema halls in the country and continued to keep the cash registers ringing on its second Friday. India's leading film trade analyst Taran Adarsh â€tweeted: "Telugu film #NenuSailaja crosses half-million mark in USA. [Week 2] Fri $40,178. Total: $ 516,650 [₹ 3.46 cr]. EXCELLENT! @RentrakIndia (sic)"
"Nenu Sailaja" witnessed decent growth on its second Saturday and Sunday, when it is likely to have collected $100,000 at the US box office. The movie is expected to cross $650,000 at the US box office by the end of its second week.
"Nenu Sailaja" will face competition from big-ticket Sankranthi releases like "Nannaku Prematho", "Dictator", "Soggade Chinni Nayana" and "Express Raja" in its third week. These new release will surely force Ram's movie out of most theatres, and it will not be to able to cross the $1-million mark at the US box office.
