Ram's "Nenu Sailaja" has collected over Rs 20 crore gross at the worldwide box office in the first week. The movie has topped the T-Town business chart, beating its rival "Abbayitho Ammayi".
"Nenu Sailaja" was released in a large of screens across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and some other parts of India on 1 January. Hype and promotion helped the film get decent advance booking for its opening day. The movie opened to overwhelming response everywhere on Friday.
The Ram Pothineni and Keerthi Suresh-starrer received positive feedback from viewers and critics, which took its business over the weekend. In its opening weekend, "Nenu Sailaja" grossed Rs 10.45 crore in the two Telugu states and Rs 4.45 crore in other parts of the world, taking its three-day global gross total to Rs 14.90 crore. The film fetched Rs 9.79 crore to its distributors.
The Kishore Thirumala-directed romance drama witnessed around 40% drop in its collection on Monday and it remained rock-steady at the ticket counters on the following days. On the weekdays, "Nenu Sailaja" grossed Rs 8.50 crore at the worldwide box office, taking its seven-day gross total to Rs 23.40 crore. The film is estimated to have earned Rs 15.57 crore for its distributors.
"Nenu Sailaja" has been made on a budget of Rs 15 crore (including production and publicity), and it has been successful in recovering 100% of its costs in seven days. Its earning in the second week will be profit for its makers. The film has become the first big Tollywood money-spinner of 2016. The movie has also given a big break to Ram, who was suffering from series of flops of recent.
