"NCIS" season 12 is going to introduce the younger version of David McCallum (Ducky) as per the reports. It has been suggested that Adam Campbell will play the role of young Ducky in the film and that he will be seen in the flashback episodes.
"When we saw Adam, all we could think of was a young David McCallum," executive producer Gary Glasberg said in a statement to TV Guide. "We can't wait to introduce him as young Ducky and watch what he brings to this unusual role."
The new season would give the viewers a peek into Ducky's past, revealing to his fans why he has special affinity for bow ties.
Campbell has previously appeared in series like "Mixology," "Harper's Island," "Touch" and "2 Broke Girls."
Meanwhile, it is reported that Ziva David (Cote De Pablo) may return in the first episode of "NCIS" season 12.
Warning: Potential spoiler ahead.
The first episode of season 12 may focus on David's return after months of captivity, reported EnStarz. Tony DiNozzo is speculated to risk his life to save David.
"Just talking about "Truth or Consequences" (Season 7's first episode) with Mr.Weatherly and Mr. Stern the other night over a nice bottle of wine," NCIS director Dennis Smith wrote on his Twitter page, hinting David's return
"Hi #TivaCamp2014 been thinking a little bit about a follow up to Truth or Consequences lately. Think that'd be fun?" tweeted Jesse Stern, who wrote NCIS Season 7's first episode.
David's return is still a speculation as the creator of the show, Glasberg had previously suggested in one his interviews that the character might not make a return to the show.
"It's time for Tony to continue to grow a little bit," Glasberg told TV Line, adding, "He went through a lot last year emotionally and tried to deal with Ziva's departure as he could. And it's time" for someone new. "We'll be mature about it and handle it properly, and Michael's excited about it."
"NCIS Season 12", Episode 1 is titled "20 Clicks, while Episode 2 will be called "Kill the Messenger", as per reports. The show is set to open on Sept. 23, Tuesday.
