The Golden State Warriors, especially Klay Thompson, who scored 60 points, destroyed Indiana Pacers as they emerged victorious by 36 points, score reading 142-106. The Cleveland Cavaliers might not have cruised to victory like the Warriors, but they were involved in a close contest as they beat Toronto Raptors 116-112.
Warriors, who have just lost three matches this season, were amazing in the first half with Thomspon firing on all cylinders. The Warriors were strong on the offensive floor, scoring 80 points in the first half, compared to Pacers' 50.
With a lead of 30 points going into the first half break, the Warriors were always favourites, and they continued their dominance in the third and fourth quarter as well to win the match 142-106. It was one of those standout performances of the season from an individual player, as Thompson was at his menacing best with his shooting skills. Thompson, on his way to 60 points, drilled eight three-pointers to enjoy a stunning night. This was one of those matches, where Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant were overshadowed by Thompson.
Coming to the other match, the Cavaliers were desperate for a victory after three straight losses, while the Raptors in roaring form were keen to register yet another win. Right from the start, it was a tight tussle between the two teams, and that was expected with Cavaliers possessing big names like LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, while Raptors had Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan.
However, it was the brilliance of James, Irving and Kevin Love, which played an important hand in the win. James top scored with 34 points followed by Love (28) and Irving (24). Despite these players shining it was not an easy outing for the Cavs, who were tested to the limit by the Raptors.
It was tight from the first quarter itself, with both teams playing some wonderful offensive basketball. Though the Raptors finished on a high outscoring 31-26 in the final quarter, the Cavaliers emerged victorious 116-112.
However, one should applaud the Raptors and especially their stars Lowry and DeRozan, who took the game to the Cavaliers. Lowry scored 24 points, while DeRozan finished with 31 points.
