Nayanthara is busy with back-to-back projects in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The actress recently made headlines when news of her being part of Chiranjeevi's 150th film came out.
Reports now suggest the actress has grabbed a role in Rajinikanth's upcoming movie to be directed by Pa Ranjith.
However, this is yet to be confirmed, since there were reports that the Rajinikanth film will not have a heroine. The actress had earlier been part of Rajinikanth movies "Chandramukhi" and "Kuselan".
Rajinikanth took Kollywood by surprise when he announced that his next project will be with new- age film maker Pa Ranjith, who is known for his movies such as "Attakathi" and "Madras". Rumours suggested Rajinikanth has decided to try something different from his typical superstar image, with some sources claiming Rajinikanth will play the role of an aged gangster in the upcoming movie.
The superstar was apparently so impressed with the movie script that he allotted 45 days to Pa Ranjith to complete his portion. It would be interesting to see how the director handles Rajinikanth's stardom, given his realistic approach to film-making.
The untitled movie will reportedly be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the banner of Kaliapuli Films International and the makers are planning the movie as a Pongal 2016 release.
Rajinkanth has had a bad run at the box office in the last five years, with his two releases "Kochadaiiyaan" directed by his daughter Soundarya and "Lingaa" directed by KS Ravikumar not doing well. Therefore, starring in a Pa Ranjith movie is being seen as a fresh approach by Rajinkanth by many in Kollywood.
Nayanathara recently tasted success with Malayalam movie "Bhaskar The Rasacal" opposite Mammootty. The actress is also looking forward to the release of "Masss", "Maya", "Idhu Naam Aalu", "Thani Oruvan", "Naanum Rowdydhaan", "Kashmora" and "Thirunaal".
