It was reported recently that Tamannaah Bhatia was the top contender to play the female lead in Ajith's next movie, currently referred to as "Thala 57". Now, one more name has emerged in connection with the role, and it is none other than Nayantara.
As per reports, the leading Southern actress is also in the race to bag the film. The makers recently approached the 31-year-old, who had earlier worked with Ajith in "Billa 2", "Aegan" and "Arrambam". But nothing is confirmed yet.
Speculations say Siruthai Siva had also offered the film to the super-busy Tamannaah Bhatia. It is well known that she is the favourite actress of the director, having worked together in films like "Siruthai" and "Veeram". But the "Baahubali" actress, though interested, could not accept the film straightaway as she is already committed to a few other projects.
On the other end, there are also rumours that Kriti Sanon has been roped in to play an important role in the film. Ajith is believed to be playing two roles, and speculation is rife that Sanon will romance one of the two characters played by Thala.
Earlier, it was said "Thala 57" would begin shooting in May, but now it appears the filming might start a month early. There are chances of the film starting its regular shooting in April itself. We have to wait and see whether the makers have its muhurat on 14 April. the Tamil New Year day.
Meanwhile, Siruthai Siva has officially signed the project. Producer Thiagarajan of Sathyajyothi Films has given the advance amount to the director.
The film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander. "Thala 57" will hit the screens for Diwali 2016.
