Praveen Sattaru's "Chandamama Kathalu" has won the Best Telugu Film award in this year's National Film Awards announced on 24 March.
Naturally, actresses Lakshmi Manchu and Richa Panai, who gave impressive performances in the movie, are excited.
62nd National Award-Winning Films
The jury of 62nd National Film Awards announced the names of all the winners at a press meet held in Delhi on Tuesday. The jury team revealed that "Chandamama Kathalu" has been adjudged the Best Telugu Film. The awards will be given to the winners at a function to be held later.
Lakshmi Manchu and Richa Panai were all thrilled to hear the news about "Chandamama Kathalu" winning the award. Both the actresses could not control their excitement over this rare honour and took to their Twitter handles to share the same with their followers.
In the film, Lakshmi Manchu played a supermodel named Lisa Smith, who is at the fag end of her career with no money left.
The actress tweeted: "Omg omg omg #chandamamaKathalu just won the national award for the best regional film. Yayayayayayayyayayayayay."
Richa Panai, who played a Muslim girl named Haseena in the movie, tweeted: "Someone plz pinch meee..our film #ChandamamaKathalu just won Best Regional Film National award!!!Thanku Praveen sir n entire team.Luv u al".
Written and directed by Praveen Sattaru, "Chandamama Kathalu" is an anthology film that has eight sub-stories revolving around love. Lakshmi Manchu, Amani, Naresh, Krishnudu, Chaitanya Krishna, Abhijeet, Naga Shourya, Vennela Kishore, Amitha Rao and Richa Panai have played the lead roles in the film, which has Mickey J Meyer's music and Suresh Ragutu's cinematography.
Released in theatres on 25 April 2014, "Chandamama Kathalu" successfully impressed both film critics as well as movie buffs. The movie also did decent business at the box office. Now, the news about the film winning the National award has thrilled the makers of the movie.
