Superstar Mohanlal's next movie Mahabharata, an adaptation of MT Vasudevan Nair's much-celebrated novel Randamoozham, is all set to become the most expensive movie ever made in Indian cinema. Many are eagerly waiting for the project, which narrates the epic through the eyes of Bheem, the second of the Pandavas, to be played by Mohanlal.
Mohanlal's Mahabharata is 1,000% confirmed,' says producer BR Shetty
Now, latest reports suggest that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent a letter to producer BR Shetty of the Rs 1,000 crore project, and Mahabharata is said to be a movie that the leader is eagerly looking forward to. It is understood that the PM has even called it the matter of pride for the entire nation.
Meanwhile, during the official launch of Mahabharata movie on Sunday, June 4, the Indian-origin businessman in the UAE had stated that he is following the footsteps of Modi and his Make in India campaign. The producer considers that the money he spends for the filming of Mahabharata is also like the PM's ambitious project.
Will KP Sasikala still protest against Mahabharata?
Recently, Hindu Aikya Vedi President KP Sasikala had threatened that the Hindus will not allow the makers of the magnum-opus to release the movie until and unless they change the title of the film. The controversial woman, who often irks the public, had commented that since the movie is based on the novel Randamoozham, it has to be given the same name, and not that of the epic Mahabharata.

"We Hindus have a condition, the title of Mohanlal's movie should be renamed. Only a film close to the real story of epic Mahabharata written by Vyasa can carry that name. If the movie is based on MT Vasudevan Nair's Randamoozham, then let them consider that as its name. Only Veda Vyasa has the right to use Mahabharata," Sasikala had then pointed out during a Aikyavedi meeting in Kunnamkulam.
Now, with the PM extending his support for the ambitious project, helmed by VA Shrikumar Menon, will Sasikala swallow her words against the movie?

Meanwhile, International Business Times, India had then conducted a poll asking the netizens on the appropriate name for the movie. A majority had then suggested that the title should be Mahabharata, as it is made for the whole India, and not just restricted to the Kerala audience. The movie is also expected to have many biggies from Indian cinema and Hollywood. During the launch event in the UAE, Shetty also added that they will start the shooting of Mahabharata in 100 days, and will be mainly shot in Abu Dhabi.
