Junior NTR's "Nannaku Prematho" has continued to keep the cash registers ringing at the US box office, but it has failed to cross the mark of $2 million in the country in the second weekend.
"Nannaku Prematho" did fantastic collection at the US box office in the first week. It became the all-time highest grosser for Junior NTR, beating the lifetime records of his previous films. Since there were no new releases from South India, the Sukumar-directed film was expected to continue its dream run in the second week and it was to surpass the mark of $2 million in the country.
The Junior NTR and Rakul Preet Singh starrer witnessed over 80% drop in its collection in North America on its second Friday. It showed decent growth on Saturday, but once again hit the rock bottom on Sunday. Its collection was apparently affected by Akshay Kumar's "Airlift", which reduced its screen count by 50% in the second week.
"Nannaku Prematho" has collected $133,936 from 84 screens at the US box office in its second weekend. Its total second weekend collection is not even 40% of its business in the premiere shows ($355,321). The movie has collected a total of $1,923,122 (Rs 13.03 crore) in 12 days.
India's leading film trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted the day-wise breakup of its second weekend on his Twitter page. He tweeted, "Telugu film #NannakuPrematho - USA - Week 2: Fri $ 34,052, Sat $ 66,306, Sun $ 33,578. Total: $ 1,923,122 [₹ 13.03 cr]. @RentrakIndia (sic)"
"Nannaku Prematho" needs to collect $76,878 to surpass the mark of $2 million at the US box office, but the present trends show that the movie will not be able to achieve these numbers in the second week. However, it is expected to cross this mark in its third weekend.
