Two big-ticket Telugu flicks -- Nannaku Prematho and Brahmotsavam -- had their first TV premiere during the Dussehra weekend. Junior NTR's film has got better TRP ratings than superstar Mahesh Babu's movie.
The pre-release hype made Nannaku Prematho sell its satellite rights for Rs 10.25 crore, which was the highest price for a film of Junior NTR. Gemini TV, which acquired its rights, had its TV premiere on October 10. The movie received a superb response during its first telecast on the small screen and fetched 12.23 TRP ratings, which is said to be the highest for a film featuring Junior NTR.
On the other hand, Mahesh Babu's Srimanthudu, which was a huge success at the box office, had got 21.24 TRP points on its first TV premiere on Zee Telugu. Its success had created a huge demand for the satellite rights of Brahmotsavam and its pre-release hype also added to the demand for its rights. Zee Telugu acquired the TV rights of Brahmotsavam for a record price of Rs 17 crore.
But Brahmotsavam failed to meet the expectations of viewers that it had generated before its release and it bombed at the box office. Many in the Telugu film industry were curious to know about its performance on the small screen. The movie was premiered on Zee Telugu at 5:00 pm on October 9 and received an average response. The film is said to have registered 7.52 TRP ratings during its first TV premiere.
The TRP ratings of "Srimanthudu" has created a lot of demand for the satellite rights of "Brahmotsavam," which is touted to be a family entertainer. If we are to go by the buzz in the T-town, Zee Telugu has acquired the TV rights for a whopping price amidst a tough competition. The deal amount is likely to be around Rs 20 crore, reports Gulte.
RJV Aluri, an expert from the Television industry, has confirmed the TRP ratings of both Nannaku Prematho and Brahmotsavam on his Twitter handle today. He tweeted: "#NannakuPrematho Premiere gets 12.23 TRP's and #Brahmotsavam Premiere gets 7.52 TRP's."
Nannaku Prematho has landed at the fifth rank in the list of the movies with highest TRP ratings in 2016, but its performance is not up to the expected mark. However, Brahmotsavam failed to make it to this list and its performance is considered as poor. Here is the list of top five movies.
