The makers of the movie "Amar Akbar Antony" have finally zeroed-in on the lead actress of the movie. There were rumours about Vedhika playing the lead but now the makers have confirmed that Namitha Pramod will play the lead role in the film.
The director of the movie, Nadirshah, said that they had a discussion with Vedhika but confirmed Namitha as they found her perfect for the role.
"I heard the story of the film a long time ago, and am happy to be a part of the project. Right now, I can only say that my role is that of a dancer," Namitha told The Times of India.
Namitha had earlier played a dancer for Lal Jose's movie "Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum" and the trailer of the latest Dileep movie "Chandrettan Evideya" suggests that she plays dancer in the upcoming film too.
The shooting for "Amar Akbar Antony" is expected to kick-start on 4 May in Kochi. The film also stars Kalabhavan Shajon, Siddhique and Shrinda.
Prithviraj, Indrajith and Jayasurya had earlier worked together in 2006 Lal Jose directorial "Classmates". The film also had Kavya Madhavan, Narain, Jagathy Sreekumar, Balachandra Menon and Radhika in the cast. The film became one of the biggest blockbusters of the year and grabbed the Kerala State Film Award for Best Popular Film and Best Story.
Coming back to "Amar Akbar Anthony", though it bears the same title as the vintage Bollywood film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor, the director confirmed that the film's story has nothing to do with its Hindi namesake. This film is touted to be a comedy entertainer and the title is inspired from the names of the three protagonists.
The film with Prithviraj-Indrajith-Jayasurya combination has created a lot of expectations. The script is penned by debutants Bipin and Vishnu. The music is by Deepak Dev and the lyrics are by Kiathapram, Bappu Vavad and Nadhirshah.
