Actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha are reportedly set to play the roles of Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the Telugu remake of Bollywood movie 2 States, which will go on the floors soon.
It is reported that several filmmakers wanted to remake 2 States in Telugu and had approached Karan Johar to bag its remake rights. But the Bollywood filmmaker had declined over some unknown reasons. Abhishek Nama of Abhishek Pictures, however, managed to acquire the rights of the Hindi film and he has reportedly shelled out a hefty sum of Rs 55 lakh for the rights.
When quizzed about the remake, Abhishek Nama admitted that he has got the rights to remake 2 States. He says that he has plans to introduce VV Vinayak's protégé Venkat Kuchem as an independent director with this remake. "Venkat Kuchem has worked with V.V. Vinayak for nearly 10 years and I am introducing him as director," Abhishek told the Deccan Chronicle.
The producer thinks Naga Chaitanya and Samantha are the perfect match for the roles of the lead pair in 2 States. He also wants to cast Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Ramya Krishna and Revathi for the film. "Samantha is a Malayali and Naga Chaitanya is a Telugu boy, so the subject suits them and their real life relationship will add glamour to it if they sign this film," Deccan Chronicle quotes a source as saying.
