TV actor Rajat Tokas, who charmed all with his intense role of Akbar in hugely popular show "Jodha Akbar", is all set to return to the small screens.
According to reports, Rajat has been roped in to play a key role in supernatural series "Naagin" -- which has Mouni Roy, Arjun Bijlani and Adaa Khan in lead roles.
Rajat will be seen playing an ichhadhaari nevla (Mongoose), which is totally different from his previous role. His character will enter the show to create troubles in the lead actors' lives.
"Rajat's character is cursed and will be seen trapped in a mongoose's body. With a motive of vengeance in his heart, his character will wreak a havoc in Mouni Roy and Adaa Khan's life. The only way for him to break the spell is to kill an ichchadhari naagin," a source told The Times of India.
Rajat and his "Jodha Akbar" co-star Paridhi Sharma aka Jodha turned out to be one of the most popular on-screen couples with a huge fan base. The periodic series depicted a sixteenth century love story and a political marriage between Mughal emperor Akbar and Rajput princess Jodha.
"Jodha Akbar" ruled the hearts of millions for two years but was pulled down in July last year due to drastic fall in its TRP ratings. Despite the popularity, the show came under the scanner for drifting away from the original story and also received a lot of flak from the Rajput community.
Meanwhile, "Naagin" has been ruling the TRP charts since its inception. This week, the weekend show has scored a whopping 5.8 TRPs beating all other daily soaps.
