N Srinivasan has been removed from the position of the ICC chairman. The decision was made during the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is being currently held in Mumbai.
Shashank Manohar, who is the new BCCI president, is all set to replace Srinivasan as the former's name was proposed for the position of the new ICC chairman.
Even before the start of the AGM, a senior BCCI official had told reporters that some tough call will be taken during this AGM. Removing Srinivasan from the post of the ICC chairman is surely one of the toughest calls from this crucial meeting.
"Please expect some very strong decisions to be made tomorrow. There'll be some very tough calls taken," a senior BCCI official said on Monday.
Earlier this year, the Supreme Court had ordered that Srinivasan cannot attend any BCCI meetings from now on and he was not present at the BCCI's AGM on Monday. Tamil Nadu Cricket Association was supposed to be represented by the vice-president PS Raman and this has now ended Srinivasan's hold in the Board.
Reports are also suggesting that Srinivasan's position as the chief of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association will also be under the scanner soon.
This is how the world reacted on social media platform Twitter after the news broke:
