Internationally acclaimed annual consumer electronics trade fair Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 concluded Feb. 25 in Barcelona.
Like previous years, MWC 2016 also witnessed the launch of numerous flagship smartphones from tier-1 brands such as Samsung, LG, Sony and others. For the first time, top Chinese mobile phone maker Xiaomi unveiled a marquee device -- Mi 5 -- at this global event.
Here's the list of notable handsets which were showcased at the four-day (Feb. 22-25) long event:
1. Samsung Galaxy S7 series:
South Korean technology major Samsung unveiled the 2016 flagship phone Galaxy S7 series with huge upgrade over Galaxy S6. The new Samsung phone comes with water-proof certification and micro SD card option. Under the hood, it comes with Snapdragon 820 quad-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB inbuilt storage, Dual Pixel 12MP camera and 5MP snapper in the front.

2)LG G5:
LG's new flagship smartphone G5 was the most talked about smartphone in the MWC 2016 event. It garnered great interest from critics and fans alike for its unique modular design concept.
The LG device, despite being encased in an all-metal body, boasts of a replaceable battery option without even needing to remove the back panel.
LG G5 users can simply pull the bottom segment of the device like a tray and swap the battery. The bottom segment also acts as add-on port, wherein users can dock accessories like LG CAM Plus.

3)Sony Xperia X:
Japanese consumer electronics major was rumoured to unveil a mid-range Xperia C series phone, but to everyone's surprise, Sony unveiled the company's brand new flagship Xperia X series, officially retiring the three-year old Z series.
The new Sony phone comes in three variants – Xperia X, XA and X Performance. Among them, X Performance is a top-end phone. It sports 5.0-inch full HD display and comes with Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB and a 2700 mAh battery.

4)Xiaomi Mi 5:
This is first time in Xiaomi's history that the company has taken part in MWC or any other international trade fair to unveil a smartphone.
Word on the street is that Xiaomi is using Barcelona event as a launch pad to introduce Mi 5 in Europe and American markets.
The new Xiaomi Mi 5 flaunts 5.15-inch full HD display with finger-print sensor at the bottom, which also doubles up as the home button, the latest Android Marshmallow OS based MIUI v7.0, 16MP Sony IMX298 camera, 4MP snapper on the front, 3000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

5) Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus and K5:
After weeks of teasing, Lenovo unveiled the new Vibe K5 Plus and Vibe K5 series phones at MWC 2016. Both the devices come with almost identical specifications except the screen resolution and SoC (System-on-Chip). The Vibe K5 sports 5.0-inch HD (1280x720p) display and houses Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 Octa-core CPU, whereas the Vibe K5 Plus flaunts 5.0-inch full HD (1920x1080p) screen and ships with Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 Octa-core processor.

6) Gionee Elife S8:
Chinese smartphone maker Gionee unveiled the new sleek flagship device Elife S8 with a near bezel-less display at MWC 2016. It sports 5.5-inch screen having pixel density of 401 ppi (pixels per inch). Under the hood, it houses MediaTek Helio P10 SoC processor, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 64GB storage, 4GB RAM. It also comes packed with a 16MP camera with PDAF and f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP secondary snapper and a 3,000mAh battery.

7)HP Elite x3:
American PC maker, Hewlett Packard unveiled Windows Mobile OS powered Elite x3 smartphone.
It sports a massive 5.96-inch QHD (2560x1330p) display and houses Snapdragon 820 processor backed by 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage and a 4,150mAh battery. HP Elite x3 also boasts Continuum feature seen in Microsoft's Lumia 950 series.

8) Obi Worldphone MV1:
Former Apple Inc. chief John Sculley owned Obi Worldphone also launched a new handset dubbed as MV1. It's design is similar to the company's flagship SF1, but its internal hardware is completely different. It comes with a modest spec-list such as 5.0-inch HD screen, Snapdragon 212 CPU, 1GB/2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory and 2500mAh cell.
Based on the region of the sale, MV1 models will come with either Cyanogen OS 12.1.1 or Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.

9)HTC Desire series:
HTC, previously rumoured to showcase flagship phone One M10 at MWC 2016, launched three mid-range phones -- Desire 825, 630 and 530.

They come with HD screen, 2GB/1.5GB RAM, 16GB memory, 13MP/8MP primary camera and a 5MP camera on the front.

10) GM 5 Plus:
General Mobile's GM 5 Plus is Google's first Android One series smartphone to debut at MWC. Going by the spec-list, it falls in the mid-range category. GM 5 Plus features 5.5-inch full HD screen, latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 3100mAh battery.

11) Acer Liquid Jade 2:
Popular PC maker, Acer unveiled new generation marquee device dubbed Liquid Jade 2. It boasts 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display and runs on Android OS backed by Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core CPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt memory.

12) Zopo Speed 8:
