Legendary Carnatic music composer and singer M Balamuralikrishna passed away on November 22 in Chennai. The veteran musician died at the age of 86.
Winner of the Padma Vibhushan, M Balamuralikrishna was an Indian Carnatic vocalist, composer, actor, playback singer and a multi-instrumentalist.

Born at Sankaraguptam in Andhra Pradesh, M Balamuralikrishna was originally named Murali Krishna. The prefix Bala was added to his name at the age of 8 after well-known Harikatha performer, Musunuri Suryanarayana Murty Bhagavatar had seen his first concert in Vijayawada.
