Two people were killed and five others injured after a car ran over them near the Khar suburb of Mumbai, reported IBN Live.
The casualties in the accident were an auto rickshaw driver and a motorcyclist. The injured, including a foreigner who was sitting in the backseat of the Honda Accord, were rushed to Bhabha Hospital. Police said that she is the owner of the car.
A police officer said that the accident occurred after the man behind the wheel drove the car into non-entry zone. Media images of the damaged vehicle indicated that the impact of the accident was quite severe.
Police have arrested the driver and booked him under section 304 of the India Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. A medical examination is being conducted on the driver to determine if he was drunk at the time of the accident.
