A Shiv Sena leader was shot at by unidentified assailants at Kashimira in Mira Road on Tuesday evening. He is said to be in critical condition.
The leader, Anil Chavan, is undergoing treatment at Bhaktivedanta Hospital.
Two unidentified men fired two shots at Chavan before fleeing the scene. The police suspect that personal rivalry could be the reason behind the attack, Daily News & Analysis reported.
"Chavan suffered a bullet injury and has been admitted at a hospital for treatment and we suspect personal rivalry behind the attack," said an official at Kashimira Police Station.
"An FIR has been lodged against unidentified men and investigation is on to nab the culprits," Mumbai Police official Avinash Ambure told ANI.
