Popular TV actress Mona Wasu is the latest victim of sexual molestation. On Wednesday, Wasu, best known for her role in popular TV soap "Miilee", was returning home at 11.45 pm to Versova from Madh Island, when a youth tried to touch her inappropriately.
Wasu raised her voice and even fought the molester back and managed to gather some people around her. "She had gone to Madh Island on some work and while returning, chose to take the jetty. She was travelling all by herself when a youth tried her touch her inappropriately. She not only raised an alarm but also fought back," a source told Mid-Day.
The actress has lodged an FIR against the youth at the Versova police station and ensured that the accused is behind bars.
"I was about to get into the jetty when this man touched me inappropriately and just walked away as if nothing had happened. I ran after him, beat him and took him to the police station. It took me two hours to register the complaint, but the police dropped me back home safely." Vasu told The Times of India.
"I'm always alert and keep a pepper spray and a compass with me. As an independent woman, I value my freedom. Some say travelling late at night is not safe, but such incidents happen during the day too," she added.
The molester was identified as Inder Gupta (28) and has been booked under Sections 354 and 509 of the IPC and will soon be produced in court, senior inspector of Versova police station Ravindra Nath Pawar told Mid-Day.
Wasu, was last seen in Anurag Kashyap's TV show "Yudh" where she shared the screen space with Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
