Chennaiyin FC are yet to taste defeat in ISL 2017. They are in third place with three wins and one draw, and will be eager to better that record as they face Mumbai City FC in Mumbai on Sunday.
The home team will need to play better football if they are to collect three points against an in-form Chennaiyin FC side. Mumbai City have only won one game this season so far, and are in serious need of three points to move up the table. They will need all the home support to pressurise Chennaiyin FC on Sunday.
"Playing at home, we have the fans behind us who have been fantastic every time. We hope that their support will make it easier for us, though it won't be an easy game. Chennaiyin are coming off the back of three wins, but we are playing at home and we are ready. We have had some good training sessions, and we hope we can get the three points." ISL official website quoted Mumbai's captain Lucian Goian as saying.
Besides the fans, Mumbai City FC players like Balwant Singh, who has scored twice already, and Gerson Vieira need to bring their best game forward on Sunday.
The best thing about Chennaiyin FC have been their combined team effort. One player or the other has always stood out in this ISL 2017, and scoring goals has not been much of a problem for the Southern side. Raphael Augusto, Jeje Lalpekhlua and Inigo Calderon have scored two goals each.
Despite the Chennaiyin players in good form, coach John Gregory is expecting a tough match in Mumbai.
"Every game is difficult and brings different kinds of problems to the coaches and the players. There are no easy games. We are expecting a very tough game against Mumbai City here," Gregory said.
