The Bengaluru FC players have returned after their historic achievements at the AFC Cup 2016 and nobody can be more happy than Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC, who host FC Pune City in the second leg of the Maharashtra Derby in ISL 2016.
The likes of Sunil Chhetri, Amrinder Singh, Udanta Singh and Lalchhuanmawia Fanai are expected to feature in their first ISL 2016 match on Thursday and there couldn't have been a brighter occasion for them to make their debut this season at the Mumbai Football Arena but the Maharashtra Derby. For FC Pune City, midfield maestro Eugeneson Lyngdoh returns.
One of the brightest things that needs to watched in the evening's match is the partnership between Diego Forlan and Chhetri up front for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil star Ranbir Kapoor's side. Watching two legends of football -- one from India and the other from Uruguay -- will be a grand occasion for the home supporters.
Mumbai City FC coach Alexandre Guimaraes has a lot of options up front in Sony Norde, Leo Costa, Jackichand Singh, Chhetri, Matias Defederico, Udanta and Forlan -- making it more formidable than any other team in the ISL this season.
"All of them [the returning Bengaluru FC players] trained yesterday and no one told me about being unable to play. So, it is up to me to see who is going to play and all of them are working hard without any complaints," Guimaraes said.
As for Pune City, Eugeneson will make a sure start in the lineup in the place of the injured Arata Izumi and Pitu.
