In what could turn out to be a potential semi final or even the ISL 2016 final, the top two sides of the Indian Super league this season, Mumbai City FC and Delhi Dynamos, clash swords in their final league game on Saturday. Mumbai, with a point, can finish their league season atop the table, while a win could catapult Delhi to the top.
Mumbai City FC, for one, are determined on finishing at the top of the table. "We need to continue what we have been doing and we want to get maximum points tomorrow [Saturday]. That is the objective," Alexandre Guimaraes, coach of the Mumbai side, told in the pre match press conference.
Mumbai have the best defensive record this time around with just eight goals conceded from 13 games, while Delhi have the best goalscoring record with a total of 27 goals from 13 games.
The likes of Diego Forlan and Sunil Chhetri remain the key attackers for the home side at the Mumbai Football Arena on Saturday, while for the away side, the absence of the league's top scorer Marcelinho, owing to suspension, could come as a worry.
"I think it can be a very open game, like the one we played against Delhi and like we saw last night [FC Goa vs Chennaiyin FC]. When teams are liberated, then they can just play without any concerns and I hope we can tomorrow give our fans a good performance and a game which they can enjoy," Guimaraes added.
Head to head record
Mumbai 2-1 Delhi (two games drawn)
Schedule
Mumbai City FC vs Delhi Dynamos is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm IST (2.30 pm BST) on December 3.
