The much-demanded and recent Google Android 7.0 (Nougat) operating system update has now reached a new Sony smartphone that was earlier stuck on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). This rollout is an indicator about the newer firmware reaching more phones irrespective of the brand.
The new Sony smartphone that is receiving Android Nougat as an OS update is the Sony Xperia XZ that was released in October 2016. Users of this handset should notice the new firmware in the form of OTA notifications. A manual search can also be initiated to obtain and install Nougat.
As far as Android Nougat-specific enhancements are concerned, the firmware introduces aspects such as:

- Quick Switch between multiple applications

Installation and experiencing Android Nougat:
In case there are automatic OTA notifications indicating that a new OS update (Android Nougat) is available:
- Select Yes, I'm in.
- After the software is downloaded, select Install now
- After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
- Your phone is now updated.
To manually initiate searches for Android Nougat, navigate to Settings >> About Phone >> System Updates >> Check for updates.
Apart from the current Xperia XZ, other prominent Sony Xperia phones that are confirmed to receive Android Nougat as an OS update are Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra.
