Music lovers across the globe must mark their calendars to watch their favourite music icons perform at the MTV Video Music Awards 2016. The star-studded event will kick off at Madison Square Garden in New York on Sunday.

Barbadian singer Rihanna will entertain her fans with a special performance, while Pop Princess Britney Spears will be setting the stage on fire with her latest single "Make Me" from the album "Glory".

Other celebrities to perform at MTV Video Music Awards 2016 include, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, The Chainsmokers, Halsey, Future and Nick Jones. Emerging reports also suggest that Beyonce and Kanye West are also likely to perform during the award night.

Grammy Award winner Rihanna will also be honoured with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. According to a report by Entertainment Tonight, the award will be presented to her by American singer Barbra Streisand and rapper Frank Ocean.

The event will begin with red carpet arrivals followed by a pre-show, which will be hosted by DJ Khaled in collaboration with Charlemagne Tha God and Lizzo. MTV is yet to announce the official host for the show and several reports suggest that it could be a host-less event.
