The annual MTV Video Music Awards, one of the most-anticipated events, is all set to kick off at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Sunday, 25 August. Pop icon Lady Gaga will open the awards ceremony with the live performance of "Applause."
The main event, which will start at 9 pm EST (6.30 am IST), will not have a host this time, MTV spokesperson confirmed to the New York Post.
MTV will broadcast the Sunday's event live from Barclays Center. You can live stream the event HERE provided by MTV's VMA All Access. Music lovers can also watch the event live online on their phones, iPads or laptops HERE.
The event will begin at 9 pm EST, but live streaming has started on Wednesday.
"The idea [with the live feed] is to capture the energy of the Barclays Center up through the show," Colin Helms, MTV's SVP of digital media told Guardian Express.
Grimes (Claire Boucher) and Rachel Antonoff will be hosting the Red Carpet report which will start at 6 pm EST on Sunday.
"I am hard pressed to leave my studio at such a creative time of year, but deep in my heart I must know if Macklemore went to the thrift shop for his red carpet look. Also stoked to be joined by co host Rachel Antonoff, cuz I would be terrified to do this alone haha," Grimes stated.
"I couldn't be more excited to be co-hosting this and so excited to be doing it with Grimes, she is the coolest! I'm thinking of wearing a long floral skirt with matching bra top but we need to secure the closure first so people don't get a big (tiny) show," Antonoff said.
The big night will see performances by big stars including Drake, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis among others. Lady Gaga will open the awards show, while Katy Perry will close it with her performance.
