MS Dhoni: The Untold Story remained rock-steady in the domestic market on Tuesday. The movie also surpassed the mark of Rs 80 crore nett at the Indian box office on the fifth day.
However, after making superb collection in the opening weekend, the Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer witnessed over 60 per cent drop in collection on Monday. The movie showed further dip in its business on Tuesday. Its average occupancy went down on the fifth day, but the film had a successful houseful run in several centres across the domestic market.
MS Dhoni: The Untold Story collected Rs 7.52 crore at the Indian box office on Tuesday, taking its five-day domestic collection to Rs 82.03 crore nett. "It's a blockbuster Tuesday for the movie, which collected Rs 7.52 crore. The movie is making rock solid collections on weekdays and its total business has reached Rs 82.03 crore in 5 days," says a source close to the production house.
Meanwhile, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh also tweeted: "#MSDhoniTheUntoldStory Fri 21.30 cr, Sat 20.60 cr, Sun 24.10 cr, Mon 8.51 cr, Tue 7.52 cr. Total: ₹ 82.03 cr. India biz."
MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, which released in theatres on September 30, received positive response from both critics and audience, who are impressed with Dhoni's inspiring story and Sushant's performance. The strong word-of-mouth helped the film go on strength to strength on the following days.
MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is a biographical sports film, based on the life of Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Director Neeraj Pandey has penned the story, screenplay and dialogues for the movie in collaboration with Dilip Jha. Sushant has played the character of Dhoni in the movie, while Kiara Advani and Disha Patani appeared as his wife and ex-girlfriend respectively.
