Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who enjoys a demigod status among cricket fans in Tamil Nadu, was in Chennai on Friday, September 23, to promote his biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. The makers had organised an event in the city at Sathyam Cinemas.
The cricketer opened up on the film apart from sharing his love for Tamil Nadu. Suriya's wife Jyothika had attended the event along with her two kids - Diya and Dev. Dhoni, who is fondly called as Mahi by his teammates, met Tamil superstar Rajinikanth at his residence after the completion of the promotional event.
Dhoni had led Indian Premier League team Chennai Super Kings, which is under suspension following the Supreme Court's order for the alleged involvement of their owners in the 2013 IPL betting case. The team helped him garner huge fan following in every nook and corner of the state.
Coming to the film, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story narrates the journey of a small-time boy, who transformed into India's most successful cricket team captain in all the formats. The film throws light at the inherent struggles of the cricketer and how he overcomes all the hurdles.
MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is written and directed by Neeraj Pandey. Sushant Singh Rajput will be seen as Dhoni, Herry Tangri as Yuvraj Singh, Kiara Advani as Sakshi Dhoni and Anupam Kher as Pan Singh, Dhoni's father.
The film has also been dubbed in Tamil and Telugu languages, and will hit the screens worldwide on September 30.
