Sushant Singh Rajput's MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has got an earth-shattering opening in Tamil Nadu. The movie, which made a fantastic collection on its first day, has come out with a similar performance on its second day.
According to trade reports, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story collected Rs 1.85 crore on the first day in Tamil Nadu. It did superb business in Chennai, where it earned Rs 30 lakh. The movie was released in over 230 screens. While the Kollywood version has been released in over 200 screens, the Hindi version is out on 25 screens.
The online advance booking figures have shown that MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has retained good viewership on its second day. Positive reviews from the audience and critics seem to have worked in favour of the film. Some trade experts have predicted at least 10-20 percent growth in its business.
As per industry experts, the movies of A-list stars of Bollywood have so far witnessed such a response in Tamil Nadu. But MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, which does not feature any star, has got an overwhelming response in the state. The credit for its success goes to Dhoni for promoting the film in Chennai.
MS Dhoni is a popular cricketer in Tamil Nadu, just like in any other part of India. But it was his association with the now-banned Chennai Super Kings team at the Indian Premiere League that brought him closer to the hearts of Tamils.
The Telugu version has, however, performed even better than the Tamil version, by earning Rs 2.20 crore on the first day. The two-day collection of the Tollywood version of the movie is expected to have crossed Rs 4 crore.
