Actress Amyra Dastur, who entered limelight with Emraan Hashmi's Bollywood film "Mr X," is all set to make her debut in the Telugu film industry with Raj Tarun's next movie, "Raju Gadu."
The film is said to have two female lead roles and the makers wanted a popular face to play the first heroine opposite Raj Tarun. They have reportedly signed up Amyra Dastur for the role, while a fresh face would be brought on board to play the second female lead.
"Raju Gadu" happens to be the second film from the team of Raj Tarun and Anil Sunkara, after the successful "Eedo Rakam Aado Rakam." The movie was launched at a grand opening ceremony on Tuesday (June 28) and the unit started the formal shooting of the film on the same day. Reports suggest that Amyra Dastur is expected to join Raj Tarun for the shooting on July 1.
Made with the tagline 'Yama Danger,' "Raju Gadu" is touted to be a hilarious comic caper, with Rajendra Prasad playing a light role in the movie. The story, screenplay and dialogues of the film have been written by Maruthi. It is expected to be an out-and-out entertainer with Maruthi's mark all over, say the makers.
The film is being directed by Sanjana, a former assistant of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who is now turning an independent director. The movie is jointly produced by Maruthi and Anil Sunkara under the banner AK Entertainments India Pvt Ltd.
Amyra Dastur made her acting debut with Manish Tiwary's 2013 Hindi film "Issaq," starring Prateik Babbar. Later, she forayed into Tamil films with Dhanush's "Anegan" in 2015. She also played the female lead in Emraan Hashmi's 2015 film "Mr X." Amyra is now set to enter Hollywood with Jackie Chan's action-adventure comedy film "Kung Fu Yoga," which is scheduled to be released in theatres on Jan. 28, 2017.
