USA Network recently announced that "Mr Robot" Season 2 will have 12 episodes instead of the usual 10 episodes as was in the first season. Besides it, the network also announced a live show titled "Hacking Robot" to be aired after the premiere of the second season.

Sam Esmail, creator and executive producer of the Golden Globe Award-winning drama series, will be directing all the episodes of the upcoming season. Season 2 will air on July 13, Wednesday, in a premiere night event that will consist of two back-to-back episodes. After the airing of the episodes, "Hacking Robot" will broadcast a live show that will provide a behind the scenes look at the show.

Talking about the second season of techno-thriller series, Chris McCumber, president Entertainment Networks, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment, said in a statement: "The first season of 'Mr Robot' was everything we hoped for – and then some. So it's no surprise that Sam and team have raised the bar even more in season two. From the first moments of the new season, it'll be clear that audiences are in for something incredibly special and wholly unexpected."

Jeff Wachtel, chief content officer, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment and president, Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios, also praised the series and said that Season 2 will be a wild experience.

"Strap in! The extraordinary ride that is 'Mr Robot' continues with a wild season two. It's a brilliant and immersive journey that demands to be watched again and again," Wachtel said.

"Mr Robot" tells the story of Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek), a cyber-security engineer who becomes involved in the underground hacker group fsociety, after being recruited by their mysterious leader (Christian Slater). The premiere episodes of Season 2, titled "eps2.0_unm4sk-pt1.tc" and "eps2.0_unm4sk-pt2.tc," will pick up the story 30 days after the now infamous fsociety 5/9 hack on multi-national company Evil Corp. Season 2 will explore the consequences of that attack as well as the illusion of control.

Written by Sam Esmail, "Mr Robot" Season 2 is produced by Steve Golin and Chad Hamilton. "Hacking Robot" is executive produced by Aliyah Silverstein and will be produced by Wilshire Studios production.
