Sam Esmail, the creator of American drama-thriller television series "Mr. Robot," is all set to announce the air date of Season 2 soon. Given the popularity and the critical acclaim the series has received, a second season was inevitable.
Season 1 of "Mr. Robot" ended on a victorious note for fsociety as it managed to hack the servers of E Corp. under the leadership of Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek). However, things are far from over as Phillip Price, CEO of E Corp., knows about Elliot and his ties with fsociety and Mr. Robot now.
Season 2 of "Mr. Robot" will continue from where the Season 1 finale titled "eps1.9_zer0-day.avi" concluded with Price and Whiterose – head of the Dark Army -- tracking the activities of fsociety and trying their best to reveal the identity of mysterious Mr. Robot.
Meanwhile, Grace Gummer of "American Horror Story" fame has confirmed to join the main cast of Season 2.
As reported by Fashion & Style, Gummer will play the role of FBI field agent Dominique "Dom" DiPierro who is investigating the hack of E Corp. and the elements behind it.
Gummer's inclusion into Season 2 of "Mr. Robot" is undoubtedly going to play a significant role in the development and progression of the story.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, creator Sam Esmail said, "Now that the hack has happened, I actually think it's not just E Corp. that will be, if you want to call them, antagonists, of fsociety."
According to Entertainment Weekly, Rami Malek, who plays the protagonist of the series – Elliot Alderson -- has confirmed that his character will have a significantly different kind of personality in Season 2 when compared to the first season.
With all the praise showered by fans and critics, it didn't come as a surprise when "Mr. Robot" bagged several Golden Globe awards. It also earned a Best Actor in a Drama Series Award from the Critics' Choice Awards.
Though the official air date has not been confirmed, "Mr. Robot" Season 2 will most likely air in the US this summer.
