Earlier in the week, Lenovo vice president Cheng Chang announced the launch of world's first 5G-enabled smartphone and now, its subsidiary Motorola has left it behind with new Moto Z3 series.
But what has come as a shock to many is that Motorola has incorporated one-generation old Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core for a 2018-series Moto Z3, while its rival brands are touting super fast and powerful Snapdragon 845 chipset.
On the bright side, the company has kept the price just to $480 (unlocked) and for the contract, consumers can grab it for $20 a month contract on Verizon for 24 months.
And most importantly, the company has launched a special 5G Moto Mod that makes Moto Z3, the lone future-ready smartphone in the world. With access to Verizon's 5G Network, consumers can live stream 4K video instantly, connect home devices, working remotely and do gaming in AR and VR faster than ever before. This 5G Mod is built by Motorola in collaboration with Qualcomm; to achieve this industry milestone, they have utilized the flagship Snapdragon X50 modem and millimetre wave components.
With 5G capability, consumers can enjoy peak internet speed up to 5Gbps to 10 Gbps, that means a 4K resolution multimedia contents with sizes 8GB or more in just seconds.
"Building upon our deep history in innovation, our intent is to put meaningful technology in consumers hands as soon as it's ready and never stop looking for new ways to deliver the best mobile devices on the planet. Today, we're taking mobile technology to the next level by not only transforming the device but also what fuels it," Motorola said in a statement.
To make it easier to move to 5G, Motorola is offering up to $300 off a new Moto Z3 via device payment plan when users switch to Verizon and trade-in their old phone.
Unfortunately, 5G Moto Mod will be available only in 2019 and remain exclusive to the US market.
Other stipulated features include 6.01-inch full HD+ super AMOLED screen, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, Android 8.1 Oreo, 12MP (with F2.0 aperture)+ 12MP dual-camera on the back, 8MP front snapper and a 3,000mAh battery, which is more than enough to run for a whole day. It also supports TurboPower.
