American smartphone maker Motorola Mobility, in collaboration with network carrier Verizon Wireless, officially pulled the wraps-off the much awaited feature-rich Droid Turbo.
"It's hard to believe that it's been five years since we launched the original DROID. Since then, DROID smartphones have come to be known for speed, power and endurance, built to outperform your expectations and push the limits of what a smartphone can do.
And today, we're excited to announce the latest in this line of premium smartphones: DROID Turbo," said the company.
Going by the specifications, Motorola's new Droid Turbo looks like an advanced version of the second generation Moto X, which was released in September.
Droid Turbo flaunts a 5.2-inch Quad-HD (2560x1440p) display, and ships with Android 4.4.4 KitKat powered by the 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 series quad-core processor with Motorola Mobile Computing System with one natural language processor and contextual computing processor. It is backed by 3GB RAM, 32GB/64GB inbuilt memory.
That's not all; Droid Turbo boasts of ballistic nylon (metalized glass fiber) that offers a distinctive design while providing ultimate durability. And also, underneath this coating, DROID Turbo features Kevlar®, a material that is known to be five times stronger than steel.
Other stipulated features include 21.0-megapixel camera with Dual-LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 4K video recording, 2.0-megapixel snapper on the front and a high-capacity 3900 mAh battery, which can run the phone for close to staggering 48 hours under mixed usage with just 3 hours of charging.
Motorola's official carrier affiliate Verizon Wireless has confirmed that the new Droid Turbo will hit stores on 30 October.
Droid Turbo 32GB and 64GB variants can be grabbed for $199 (around €157/₹12,200) and $249 (around €195/₹15,300) respectively with a two-year contract.
The network company is also offering 32GB/64GB models with $25/$27 per month under Verizon Edge plan as well.[For more information, go to official Verizon Wireless website]
