Last month, Motorola launched the critically acclaimed Moto G (3rd Gen) in India and the company is reportedly planning to roll out a new line of flagship Moto X series in a few weeks.
The company's India head, Amit Boni, confirmed during an interview BGR India that Motorola will launch the new Moto X smartphone in September. He was asked if the company will release both the mid-range Play and marquee Style series in India, but he declined to disclose the details.
We believe Motorola might follow the footsteps of rival Samsung, who offers numerous smartphones of different price range, which is probably why the South Korean company is the top smartphone maker in India and globally as well.
Motorola can replicate the similar sales strategy by placing Moto X Play in the upper mid-range sector (Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000) and the more superior Moto X Style in the top-end category (Rs 30,000 plus), thus, the company would have a complete phone portfolio covering budget (Moto E 2nd Gen: rs 5,999) to high-end devices.
For the uninitiated, both Moto X Style and Moto X Play were originally unveiled last month in the US and now with the announcement, both the devices may hit stores in India next month.
Moto X Style (aka Pure Edition in US):
Moto X Style is top-end phone among the two. It sports 5.7-inch QHD (2560x1440p) display and runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS backed by 3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB internal storage and a 3000 mAh battery.
It also boasts Motorola's custom mobile computing system integrated with 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 (Hexa-core) CPU (MSM8992), natural language processor and contextual computing processor.
Moto X Play:
This is Motorola's mid-range phone, but comes with a massive 3630 mAh battery that can run the phone for close to 48 hours under mixed usage.
Moto X Play will house Motorola Mobile Computing System with the same natural language processor and contextual computing processor, but it is underpowered as compared to Moto X Style. It features a 1.7GHz QualcommSnapdragon 615 Octa-core chipset.
