It appears like Motorola will soon roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its Moto G (2nd Gen) smartphones in India, at least that's what the firmware release notes hinted.
Motorola has confirmed Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Moto G (2nd Gen) in India, though it hasn't revealed update schedule and timing.
"We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto G (2nd Gen) by Motorola. This update brings Android 6.0 Marshmallow to your phone along with other improvements," said the firmware release notes on Motorola Mobility India support page, adding that "You cannot downgrade to a previous software version after installing this update."
Motorola released Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Moto X Style in India in November 2015 before being rolled out to Moto X Play, Moto G (3rd gen) and Moto G Turbo Edition this month. Now, the firmware is expected to be pushed out to Moto G (2nd Gen) soon as its release notes have hit online.
Moto G (2nd Gen) came running Android 4.4.4 KitKat. It got Android 5.0 Lollipop update in January 2015, but is yet to get Android 5.1 Lollipop. So, it will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow without getting upgraded to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
