Motorola unveiled its much-hyped devices Moto Z and Moto Z Force at the Lenovo Tech World 2016 in San Francisco on Thursday. The handsets from the Z family are modular as expected and come with impressive specifications.
Moto Z
The device is made from military aircraft-grade aluminium and stainless steel and measures just 5.2mm in thickness. It sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with 1,440x2,560 pixels (535 ppi pixel density), powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system, and come packed with a 32/64GB internal memory expandable up to 2 TB1 via microSD card and a 4GB RAM.
The Moto Z mounts a 13MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, laser autofocus, OIS, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, a 5MP front-snapper with f/2.2 aperture and 1.4 µm pixel size, and powered by a 2,600mAh battery with TurboPower that will enable users to get eight hours of power with 15 minutes of charging.
Moto Z Force
The device measures 6.99mm in thickness and has an all-metal design featuring the second generation of Moto ShatterShield technology, guaranteeing the display won't crack or shatter in case of a drop. Like the Moto Z variant, it sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with 1,440x2,560 pixels (535 ppi pixel density), powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system, and come packed with a 32/64GB internal memory expandable up to 2 TB1 via microSD card and a 4GB RAM.
In terms of camera, the device has a 21MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, laser & phase detection autofocus, OIS, dual-LED (dual tone) flash and 1.12 µm pixel size, and a 5MP front-snapper with f/2.2 aperture, 1.4 µm pixel size and LED flash. It has a 3,500mAh battery with TurboPower technology that can help get up to 15 hours of battery life from just a 15-minute of charging.
The Moto Z DROID Edition and Moto Z Force DROID Edition (as they are called in the United) will be released in the US staring this summer through carries like Verizon and Best Buy, and Motorola official website. Meanwhile, the unlocked Moto Z (international version) will be released worldwide in September. The company is yet to announce the price of the devices.
