Google-owned firm Motorola is all set to pull the wraps off its much-anticipated Android smartphone, Moto G, on Tuesday.
The company has scheduled the launch event on 13 November (Wednesday) 6:00 AM PT/ 9:00 AM ET (7:30 PM IST) at São Paulo, Brazil. Fans who cannot witness the unveiling can watch the event live via webcast on the official Moto G website. Users can sign up here to get real-time updates.
Moto G has has certainly created a buzz around its launch as it is expected to hit global markets, unlike its older sibling Moto X which never left American shores.
For those who are wondering what Moto G might feature, here is a compilation of various reports on the expected features and availability of the upcoming Motorola smartphone.
Expected features, launch and price details of Motorola Moto G:
Display:
Details of Moto G's were accidentally revealed in a goof-up by Amazon UK when it listed Motorola's unreleased phone on its website. It disclosed that the Moto G would sport a 4.5-inch HD (720x1280p) display. Rumours also suggested that the screen might come with Corning Gorilla Glass shield.
Operating System:
In this aspect, there are conflicting reports that Moto G may ship either with v4.3 or with v4.4 Android OS. Past rumours and the recent accidental listing of the Motorola phone on an online store suggest that the device would run on Android v4.3 Jelly Bean, but the same phone was spotted on a GFX benchmarking site with the new v4.4 KitKat. Many believe that Google may launch two variants - one with pure android stock OS and the other with a custom Motorola interface.
Processor, RAM and Storage:
According to the leaked GFX benchmarking score results, Moto G is expected to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon (MSM8226) quad-core Cortex-A7 processor with Adreno 305 graphics engine.
As of now, there are no reports regarding RAM capacity of the device. Since Moto G is touted as the affordable variant of Moto X, it may not pack 2GB RAM, but it is certain to ship with at least 1GB physical memory along with options of 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB inbuilt storage capacity.
Camera:
Rumours are rife that Moto X would house a 5.0-megapixel camera on the rear side and a 1.3-megapixel secondary front-facing camera. The main camera is reportedly capable of recording 720p HD video.
Price and Availability:
So far, two UK-based online stores have accidently disclosed the price of the unlocked version Moto G with a little difference of £10. The Amazon webpage showed that Moto G would cost £159.99 (₹16,240), whereas Tesco website disclosed that the Motorola phone would hold a price-tag of £149(₹15,120). The price of Moto G is expected to vary in other markets due to local custom duty taxes.
As far its availability is concerned, Motorola's Moto G is certain to hit multiple international markets, unlike its expensive variant Moto X which never set foot out of America.
Motorola's recent message on its Twitter page says it all. It read: "Time to say hola, olá, g'day, hallo, bonjour, namastē, hello to #MotoG". By saying "hello" in select dialects, the company hints that the forthcoming smartphone is certain to launch in India, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Portugal, Australia (including New Zealand), UK, France, and North America.
