At a time when Google's Android 7.0 (Nougat) operating system update is slow to reach much-expected popular current-gen smartphones, the latest developments hint at some of these devices being seeded Android 7.1 (Nougat) bypassing Android 7.0 firmware. One of the prominent smartphones that could witness this development is Motorola Moto X Play.
Now, as per a GFXBench listing believed to reference Moto X Play (released in 2015), a variant of the smartphone is shown running Android 7.1 (Nougat) operating system, instead of the current Android 5.1.1 (comes out of the box), Android 6.0 (recently upgraded to) or even the Android 7.0 (expected). This naturally throws hints at users of Moto X Play directly being supplied with Android 7.1 firmware instead of the Android 7.0 (Nougat).
If the above potential development turns out to be true, then Moto X Play users would have lots to cheer about considering the fact that Android 7.0 is yet to hit the smartphones. At this point in time, a confirmed rollout timeline for Android Nougat (for Moto X Play) is yet to surface, but considering what Moto Deutschland announced recently, the new firmware could begin seeding soon after the Christmas season.
Finally, as far as Android Nougat OS update rollout for Motorola phones is concerned, the new firmware is rumoured to have begun seeding to Moto G4 Plus users in India. Click here to explore these details.
