As promised by the company, Motorola is on track to release the Android Nougat update to Moto G4 series this month. Like previous years, the company has commenced the soak test in select regions.
As of now, registered Moto G4 Plus owners in Brazil have started receiving the Android Nougat update, which is around 940MB in size.

The soak test is conducted to ensure that there is no bug in the software. Once the company is convinced that there is no glitch, it will be release the update en-masse.
If previous release pattern is taken as an indication, Motorola is expected to commence the roll-out process for Moto G4 Plus between the last week of October and mid-November. After Moto G4 series, Moto Z series is in line to get the Android Nougat.

The new Nougat software brings night mode, bundled notification, enhanced security update, improved battery optimisation, multi-window options and numerous other value-added features to enhance user experience.

Other Motorola devices confirmed to get Android Nougat include Moto G (4th Gen), Moto G Play (4th Gen), Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play and Moto Z Play Droid.
