Moto G Forte with Rubber Frame Launched; Provides Additional Grip, Impact Protection

American smartphone maker, Motorola has finally unveiled the rumored Moto G Forte in Mexico.

The new Motorola smartphone variant, Moto G Forte does not ship with any additional rugged features like underwater photo-taking abilities as previously reported in the media, but the device just comes encased with 'Grip Shell' out-of-the-box.

This smartphone cover accessory can be purchased separately for $19.99 in USA (via Motorola)/ ₹999 in India (via Flipkart). It is a bit absurd why Motorola took a call to rechristen Moto G with a new appendage 'Forte', though many believe it is a marketing gimmick by the company to cash-in on the popularity of the feature-rich mid-range phone.

The newly introduced Moto G variant does not feature any enhancement in term of specifications, neither inside and outside, other than providing rubber frame for additional grip and impact protection. It is to be noted that the original Moto G comes with special water-repellent nano-coating, which enables users to make/answer calls in the rain. (Users are advised not to take the phone for a dip in the swimming pool).

Moto G Forte sports 4.5-inch HD screen with pixel density of 329 ppi (pixels per inch) and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 shield. It runs on the Android v4.4 KitKat OS powered by 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 series quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and come in 8GB and 16GB storage variants.

As of now, Moto G Forte has been made available in Mexico via network carrier Nextel, but there is no word on if Motorola has any plans of releasing the device in other markets.
