Motorola's feature-rich mid-range smartphone Moto G made a remarkable debut in India earlier in the week, with a vast majority of the units (16GB models) disappearing off the shelves, just within 15 minutes after being released on online store Flipkart.
The demand was so much that Flipkart had to replenish stocks of Moto G (16GB) twice on the same day, before running out of whole shipments in its inventory received from Motorola. Now the e-commerce website has begun taking pre-orders for the smartphone and has promised to deliver the units by February end (10-20 days). [If you are planning to place an order, click here]
Prospective buyers who do not mind the low storage can opt for Moto G 8GB model, which is still available for purchase at Flipkart for ₹12,499.
The massive response to Moto G is understandable given the fact it comes with such a competitive price-tag and yet boasts some top-of-the-line specifications, which is usually not the case with other MNC-branded devices. Moto G is turning out to be the Google-LG Nexus 5 in the mid-range segment.
The new Motorola phone comes with a sturdy matte-finish body and boasts special water repellant nano-coating to protect itself from accidental spills. The phone enables users to answer a call in the rain, if needed (though it is recommended not to take a dive in the swimming pool with the device).
Moto G sports a 4.5-inch HD (1270x720p) LCD screen, having a pixel density of 329 ppi (pixels per inch) and runs on the Android v4.3 Jelly Bean (KitKat update is expected to be rolled out soon) powered by 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 series quad-core CPU with 1GB.
